23 May 2013: The number of rhinos poached in South Africa since the beginning of 2014 now stands at 350. The Kruger National Park continues to bear the brunt of the poaching, with 242 rhinos having been killed in the National Park since the beginning of 2014. In the North West province a total of 29 rhinos have been poached, while 28 have been poached in Limpopo, 33 in KwaZulu-Natal and 17 in Mpumalanga. The Gauteng province lost its first rhino to poaching this year during the past week.
RHINO SA Project is a youth-driven, outreach and awareness initiative aimed at educating today's youth about the unmitigated and ongoing slaughter of South Africa's rhinos, and, thereby actively involving the youth of South Africa in Rhino Conservation and Heritage Preservation.
The Green Wall of SEE Project - Rhino SA Project are touching the lives of 2000 to 4000 pupils a week through their education and awareness program.
Attached above is a picture that was coloured in by one of our Scouts who attends the school at which this program was launched. The Scout gave the picture to Hathi (me, the name the Cubs in our Group call me) as he knew I love pictures of all wild animals.
